Docustudio – Quick Reference Guide

Account Menu
 
  • Current User Identity Identifies the Username that is current logged into Docustudio.
  • Refresh Profile Refreshes current user profile.
  • Settings Allows users to change account settings (Refer to next section).
  • Status Displays the current Uploading and Processing status for .plz files.
  • Switch Accounts Launches another Docustudio Log In form so users can toggle to another Username.
  • Update Docustudio opens the ‘Release Notes’ window which contains all of the most recent update information to Docustudio organized by version. Identifies the current version of Docustudio and allows the user to update the version if applicable.

Account Settings
  • UI Locale Sets the language for the user interface.
  • Page Storage Default folder where files will be saved.
  • Defaults Established default Tenant, Supplier, and Unit of Measure for all pages.
  • Process Instructions Check indicates that any tags or assemblies currently existing for these parts/pages in Documoto should be replaced upon publishing the current page.
  • Callout Properties Check indicates that hotpoint callouts should be transparent.
  • Lookup Properties Check indicates that Part Lookup will be conducted any time a new BOM is imported.

File Tab Icons
  •   New - Create a new .plz file
  •   Open - Open an existing .plz file
  •   Save - Save the current .plz file in its existing location.
  •   Save As - Save the current .plz file to a specific location.
  •   Export - Export the .plz file to a specific location as a PDF file.
  •   Convert - Convert an XML file to .plz format using an existing XSL transform.

Open an Existing Page from Documoto
The Open button now allows users to ‘Browse Server’ in order to find a list of Page currently uploaded to Documoto.  They can then open that page from Documoto, modify in Docustudio, and Publish the page back to Documoto.
     
Page Tab Icons
  • Page Properties - Displays the current Filename, Translations, and Page Tags.  Allows user to modify these values as well.
  • Hotpoint Links - Allows users to create hotpoint links from a hotpoint to another Page within Documoto. 
  • Part Kits - Allows users to create or remove part kits.
  • Part Lookup - Finds the highlighted part (or all parts) from the BOM in Documoto and returns the current Part information that exists in Documoto.
  • Import BOM/Export BOM Allows user to import BOM or export BOM to a clipboard or file in tab or comma delimited format.
  • Reorder Diagrams - Allows user to change the order of diagrams in the Diagram Pane.  Only active if multiple diagrams have been added to the file.
  •  Add Diagram/Remove Diagram - Allows user to insert an additional diagram or remove an existing diagram in the Diagram Pane.
  • Validate - Conducts an automated review of the current Page and displays any potential errors.  Does not prevent publishing, but enables user to identify potential publishing errors.

Publish Tab Icons
  • Upload - Allows user to Upload a .plz file to Documoto.
  • Status - Displays the current Uploading and Processing status for .plz files.

BOM Toolbar
         
  • Additional Part Properties - Displays Translations, Part Tags, and Pricing Information for the part highlighted.  Allows users to modify these values as well (on each part row in the BOM)
  • Insert Row - Inserts a new row into the BOM and allows user to enter part information.
  • Delete Row - Removes the highlighted row from the BOM.
 
Diagram Page Selector

Allows the user to navigate between Diagrams included in the .plz file when multiple diagrams are required for a single BOM.

  Current Zoom Level

Displays current zoom level.
Resets the diagram to 100% zoom.
Allows user to zoom in on diagram.
Allows user to zoom out on diagram.

  Brush Allows user to draw in brush stroke on the diagram.  User can set Fill Color, Brush Size, and Brush Shape.

  Line Allows user to draw straight lines on the diagram.  User can set Line Color, Line Size, and Line Style.

  Rectangle Allows user to draw a rectangle shape on the diagram.  User can set Fill Color, Outline Color, and Outline Size.

  Circle Allows user to draw a circle shape on the diagram.  User can set Fill Color, Outline Color, and Outline Size.

  Text Allows user to insert a text box on the diagram.  User can set Fill Color, Font Size, and Box Shape.

Displays current zoom level.

Hotpoint When selected, allows user to place a hotpoint on the diagram associated with the highlighted part in the BOM.
Hotpoint Link When selected, allows users to place a hotpoint link on the diagram. 
Outline Mode Allows user to view only the outline of any existing hotpoints.
Auto Hotpoint Allows users to automatically place hotpoints on a diagram based on optical character recognition (OCR) technology. 
Increase Hotpoint Increases the size of all existing hotpoints on the diagram.
Decrease Hotpoint Decreases the size of all existing hotpoints on the diagram.
Align Vertically Vertically Aligns a selection of multiple hotpoints automatically.
Align Horizontally Horizontally Aligns a selection of multiple hotpoints automatically.
 
 
Auto Hotpoint Algorithms
  Ideal algorithm to use for SVG images. Reads the item numbers in the SVG XML information.
 
  Reads pixels and floods or fills the lines in the diagram to find standalone pixels that represent callout item numbers.
 
Circle, Triangle, Square, Hexagon Searches for the callout shape and then the callout item number within the callout shape based on the min and max area set.
 
  Matches item numbers based on an XML file that contains the number formats and matching thresholds. Meant only for organizations that have callouts that are consistent across all of their diagrams (both font and text size), and must be created by Digabit Service Engineers.
