How to Modify Part Properties

Last Updated: Sep 17, 2014 03:17PM MDT

Modifying Part Properties in Docustudio

Within Docustudio, users are able to modify parts listed in the bill of materials (BOM). They are able to modify part specific information, such as the part name (or translation), part description, tag values, and pricing.  This is descriptive information for the part and will modify the part information upon uploading the page to Documoto.  Users can also modify BOM information for the page, to include part quantity, supplier, and unit of measure.

Editing the Parts Properties in the BOM

  1. Open up the parts page (.plz) file in Docustudio that contains the part and part properties that will be updated.
  2. In the BOM, highlight the row that contains the item you will be updating.
  3. Double click on the column value within the row cell that you wish to change.

  1. The cell will turn white and the contents of it will be selected (indicated by the blue highlight).
  2. Edit the text based on the changes you wish to make.
  3. Once done, click out of the cell to see your changes.
  4. Save your changes by clicking on the ‘File’ tab at the top of the Docustudio ribbons and clicking ‘Save.’

Editing Additional Part Properties

  1. Open up the parts page (.plz) file in Docustudio that contains the part and part properties that will be updated.
  2. In the BOM, identify the row that contains the item you will be updating.
  3. Click on the ‘Additional Part Properties’ icon  in the very right of column of that part row.

  1. The ‘Additional Part Properties’ window will appear.
  2. Update the part properties within the ‘Translations’ and ‘Tags’ fields by clicking the ‘Add’ button in the tables. (Note: Translations are part names [descriptions] that have an assigned locale [language]. Tags are values that can be used to search for parts or filter shelves.)

Note: As you add tags to parts, be aware of the 'Is Local' check box in the tags table. By checking the 'Is Local' check box you will tell Documoto to apply that tag ONLY to the page you are working on. If you do not check off the 'Is Local' check box, the part tag will apply to that part on ALL pages that contain that part number.

  1. Similarly, you can remove translations or tags by highlighting them in the table and clicking the ‘Remove’ button.
  2. Update pricing as needed.
  3. The next two part properties are ‘Orderable’ and ‘Part Number Visible,’ which are enabled or checked off by default. Unchecking either of these properties will change the order-ability or part number visibility at a ‘Local’ level only. This means that these part properties will only be affected on the page you are working on in Docustudio.
  4. Once you have made your changes, click ‘Save.’

  1. Save your changes in the page by clicking on the ‘File’ tab at the top of the Docustudio ribbon and clicking ‘Save.
