Web Services Reference Application

Last Updated: Aug 07, 2015 05:24PM MDT
The attached document presents Digabit’s Web Services Reference Application and also provides a brief tutorial on how to auto-generate client service code to invoke Digabit’s web services.
The Reference Application provides java source code examples for a Client application that invokes Digabit’s web services.  The code examples are not intended to be production quality code; but merely serve as a reference to develop client code.  The source code includes auto-generated web service stubs that are used to actually invoke the web services; and then the example classes show how to construct and populate objects passed to the service stubs, along with how to read the response objects returned from the service stubs.
The example code in the Reference Application is specific to the manner in which the service stubs were auto-generated.  The service stubs can be generated in many different ways, using different languages.  The web service stubs do not need to be auto-generated in order to run the Reference Application, as they are already part of the source code.  The section on how to auto-generate the stubs is presented here just to show how they were originally generated.

The assumptions for this document and for the Reference Application are that the reader is familiar with:
  1. Java programming language
  2. Eclipse IDE
  3. Apache Axis2 web services
  4. WSDL
