"You don't have permission to access" Web Services Port 80 Error

Last Updated: May 27, 2014 11:21AM MDT
A "403 Forbidden" authentication error may occur when trying to invoke a web service API. If you are receiving an error that looks like the error below you will need to make the changes described in the resolution:

403 Forbidden

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /dws/services/PublishingService20.PublishingService20HttpSoap12Endpoint/
on this server.

Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Server at integration.digabit.com Port 80

The error results from a flawed endpoint URL that includes "http" and port ":80":
http://integration.digabit.com:80/dws/services/...etc

To resolve the authentication error change http:// to the secure application protocol https:// and remove port 80:
https://integration.digabit.com/dws/services/...etc

Note: The example shows only the integration environment, but the resolution works for ALL environments (production, demo, etc).
