How your Documoto Data is Backed Up

Documoto Backup Strategy

Digabit performs backups of both our database and of our file storage (images, documents, related files).

For the database, we use Amazon’s database service called RDS. Backups are built-in, and we have a 21 day backup retention policy in place. Backups are stored on Amazon S3, with 11 nine’s of availability, so with these backups we can provide point-in-time recovery of the database. We also use multiple Availability Zones (AZs), an Amazon feature that gives high availability with a hot spare database and automatic failover in case of any problems.

For the file system, we create system snapshot backups via Amazon EC2 commands and custom scripts. The backups run nightly and are also stored on Amazon S3. As with the database, we have hot spares for these services to provide high availability.
